Nazareth Academy is proud to announce that several more student-athletes, Michael Brooks (Hillside), Cody Roll (Lyons) and Kasey Schaffer (Oak Brook), have officially committed to continue their academic and athletic pursuits at Calumet College of St. Joseph, St. Norbert University and Holy Cross College respectively.
Michael Brooks was a starting guard for Nazareth, leading the team to a 14-11 record. Brooks led the Roadrunners in scoring, averaging 15 points per game while handing out 5 assists and grabbing 5 rebounds per game. In 2013-14, he was named a member of the ESCC All-Conference Team, ESCC All-Star, Cook All-Area Team and the Pioneer Press All-Area Team. “Michael is a very smooth basketball player and is skilled in a lot of areas," said Calumet College’s Coach Sexson. "He is capable of playing either guard position as he handles the ball very well, has nice court vision, and is always under control. His best attribute may be the way that he shoots the basketball. Michael is a great kid and a solid student. Brooks plans to major in Sports Science at Calumet College of Saint Joseph. The Crimson Wave compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as part of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Nazareth Academy wishes Michael continued success at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Cody Roll, who participates in both Football and Track at Nazareth hopes to continue his track success at St. Norbert. Cody is an Honors student and natural leader. “This year especially, while Cody was dealing with some injuries I witnessed the level of Cody's commitment,” said Track coach Casey Moran. “He came every day and worked to get better and at the same time worked to help his teammates get better. We are very lucky to have had Cody. He will be missed next year.” The St. Norbert College Green Knights participate in NCAA Division III athletics as members of the Midwest Conference. Nazareth Academy wishes Cody continued success at St. Norbert.
Kasey Schaffer had an amazing record as a Nazareth golfer. Kasey regularly medaled in large invitational tournaments and finished her career as the most decorated individual Girls Golfer in Nazareth history. “She led the team, both on and off the course, to an impressive 34-14 record as a three year contributor to the varsity team. Congratulations to Kasey on her commitment to play golf at Holy Cross! We look forward to hearing about her successes as a college golfer,” says Head Girls Golf coach, Charles Rohlf. The Holy Cross Saints are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) competing in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Nazareth Academy wishes Kasey continued success at Holy Cross College.
