West Aurora, junior, forward

By the numbers: DuPage Valley All-Conference selection proved to be one of area’s rising stars, averaging 15.7 points and 8.1 rebounds. At 6-4, continues to improve his ball-handling and is drawing plenty of NCAA Division I recruiting interest, including offer from Northern Illinois University.

Geneva, junior, forward

By the numbers: Upstate Eight River All-Conference pick helped sixth-seeded Vikings to first regional title in 28 years. The 6-7 swing man led team in scoring (19.2) and rebounding (6.2) and can play inside and out. Has Division I offers from three schools.

Marquell Oliver
Metea Valley, senior, guard

By the numbers: Upstate Eight Valley All-Conference pick led Mustangs to 15 wins, averaging 17 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He was exceptional at driving to basket to score, dish or draw a foul. Led area with 172 free throw attempts, converting at 131 for 76 percent.

Jontrell Walker
West Aurora, senior, guard

By the numbers: Beacon-News Player of Year led area in scoring with 23.3 average. DuPage Valley Conference’s co-Player of the Year and Associated Press All-State Honorable Mention pick also led area in three-point shooting (45 percent) and free-throw shooting (90 percent). D-I recruit has signed with Incarnate Word of San Antonio, Texas.

Zach West
Oswego, junior, guard

By the numbers: Talented swing man and Southwest Prairie All-Conference selection led young Panthers, averaging 19.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 32 percent from beyond arc and 74 percent from line.

SECOND TEAM
Tyler Carlson, Kaneland, senior, guard: Northern Illinois Big 12 East All-Conference selection averaged 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds as Knights (18-10) were league tri-champs. Named all-tournament at Plano.

Jay DeHaan, Waubonsie Valley, senior, guard: Upstate Eight Valley All-Conference pick averaged team-high 14.4 points and was second with 5.1 rebounds for coach Chaz Taft’s 19-win Warriors.

Jake Esp, Marmion, junior, forward: Suburban Christian Blue All-Conference selection was leading scorer for coach Ryan Paradise’s Cadets and averaged 4.8 rebounds.

Chris Parrilli, Geneva, senior, guard: One of area’s better rebounding guards, averaging 5.1, second on Vikings. Also was No. 2 scorer with 10.9 average and hit winning shot against West Aurora to send Geneva to sectional finals.

Jonathan Villezcas, East Aurora, senior, forward: Repeat Upstate Eight Valley All-Conference selection averaged 12.4 points, team-high 8.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

THIRD TEAM
Udochukwu Agomo, Plano, junior, center: Reapers’ big man averaged highs of 12 points and 7.7 rebounds for 17-win team. Also averaged 2.1 blocked shots.

Matt Dunn, West Aurora, junior, guard: Improved throughout season for the 24-win Blackhawks, gaining confidence in mid-range jumper. Averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

Mike McAllister, Oswego East, senior, guard: Led Wolves in scoring with a 12.7 average and added 3.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.9 steals.

John Pruett, Kaneland, senior, guard: Northern Illinois Big 12 East All-Conference selection helped Knights to share of league title, averaging 15.2 points and 8.0 rebounds, often battling much taller opponents at 6-3.

Kyle Shimp, Yorkville, junior, forward: Northern Illinois Big 12 East All-Conference pick averaged 10 points and five rebounds for Foxes.

SMALL SCHOOL FIRST TEAM
Reece Bode, Somonauk, senior, forward: Unanimous Little Ten All-Conference selection stood only 6-3, but was a beast on the boards, capitalizing with great anticipation and positioning to average 13 rebounds. Also led Bobcats in scoring with 17.6 average.

Jack Clausel, Newark, sophomore, forward: Unanimous Little Ten All-Conference selection led young 19-win team in scoring (17.5) and rebounding (7.7). Norsemen gave state champ Mooseheart closest postseason game, battling to last possession in 25-22 regional final loss.

Mangisto Deng, Mooseheart, senior, guard: The AP second team 1A All-State selection saved best for last. The 6-7 force scored 58 points in two games downstate as Red Ramblers (29-3) captured 1A state title.

Johnathan Harrell, Aurora Christian, senior, guard: Suburban Christian Blue All-Conference pick averaged 12.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.6 steals.

Makur Puo, Mooseheart, senior, forward: The AP first team 1A All-State selection a tower at 6-10, averaging 21.2 points and 13.8 rebounds to spark Red Ramblers to 1A state championship.
