After looking a step slow in the first half, Justin Taylor helped Thornton find the throttle in the third quarter, which motored to a 52-36 win in SouthWest Suburban Red action.
Central’s Brad Bass buried a three to bring the Knights within five in the pivotal third frame, but Thornton answered with a 16-4 scoring spell fueled by Taylor’s reverse layup and two-handed jam to seize a 39-22 advantage.
Taylor scored all 12 of his points in the third after an 0-for-7 start from the field. The 6-foot-6 senior added eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
