Stevenson 64, Lakes 36
Stevenson wasted no time running away from Lakes during Tuesday night's 64-36 NSC crossover romp that got out of hand quickly.
The Patriots (15-1 overall) outscored Lakes 23-4 in the first quarter and never looked back. They led by as many as 28 late in the second.
Junior point guard Jalen Brunson connected on five of his first six field goal attempts to finish with a game-high 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Several of his passes were highlight-reel quality, including a first-half beauty to teammate Connor Cashaw (15 points, eight rebounds).
BY THE NUMBERS
Lakes (8-11) was unable to find a rhythm on offense, which led to the Eagles scoring just four points in the first quarter and 11 in the second. The Eagles shot 5-for-19 in the first half, then rebounded slightly the rest of the way to finish 14-of-43 from the field (32.5 percent). They were led by junior guard Tramone Hudson (team-high 10 points).
"We like to put pressure on the ball and on the other team's shots, and when we get the rebound, we like to run in transition. I think we were able to come out and do that early." — Brunson
