The Loyola senior scored 16 points, including his 1,000th career point, in the Ramblers' 65-57 win over Evanston. The win was even sweeter for Morrissey, who is an Evanston resident. 

Illinois reps across the nation

Numerous teams traveled out of state to play in various Christmas shootouts and tournaments.

  • St. Rita finished its trip to Hawaii's 'Iolani Prep Basketball Classic with a 2-2 record after dropping a heart-breaking 69-67 game to Mount Vernon of New York. Dominique Matthews led the way with 20 points for St. Rita, which finished sixth.
  • Young traveled to Fort Myers (Fla.) to play in the prestigious City of Palms tournament. The Dolphins dropped their semifinal game against Paul VI (Va.) 57-52 and plays Jacksonville Providence on Monday for third place.
  • De La Salle also traveled to Florida to play in the Kreul Classic. The Meteros went 0-3 in the tournament, losing to Deerfield Beach (Fla.), Carver (Ala.) and Sagemont (Fla.)
  • Orr participated in a two-game shootout hosted by Waukesha North in Wisconsin. The Spartans defeated Dominican (Wis.) tonight and View Park (Calif.) last night.

Spencer Foley on fire

Spencer Foley is letting Chicago know he's for real. After going for 31 points in last night's Northside win over Mather, the junior scored 42 points in his team's win over Roosevelt at the Steinmetz tournament. 

Tilden

Tilden won its first-round game at Jacobs, 100-87 against Johnsburg. What's more impressive is that the team had three players score 20 points-plus. Michael Winfield scored 25 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists; Martez Jackson had 22 points, five assists and two steals; Tyler Walton contributed 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
