Down 89-85 in overtime, North Chicago's Kurt Hall hit five-of-seven free throws in the final 57 seconds, and Providence-St. Mel's (7-3 record) final three possessions ended with two missed free throws and two turnovers, as the host Warhawks (7-1) rallied to win.
THE TURNING POINT
With 4.7 seconds on the clock, Hall hit the second of two free throws to tie it at 89-89. St. Mel inbounded the ball but Michael Johnson fell and traveled. Hall then drove to the bucket and was fouled with no time on the clock. He hit the first of his two free throws to win it.
Hall picked up his fourth foul with 2:53 to go in the third quarter. He was 9-of-15 shooting and finished with 29 points and 7 rebounds.
BY THE NUMBERS
For North Chicago, JayQuan McCloud had 24 points and Jay Amos-Mays 21. For St. Mel, Tevin King had 30 points, Bernard Lilly 20 and Joshuan McNeal 16. There were 60 total fouls in the game. The Hawks were 32-of-45 from the line and St. Mel was 20-of-31.
