Dundee-Crown's Brandon Rodriguez (23) advances into Harlan's Lamous Brown (33) during the second quarter at Elgin. Sun-Times library
Who is the the third best big man in Chicago?
The first two are easy to name: Young’s Jahlil Okafor and Curie’s Cliff Alexander. They might even be the two best high school basketball players in the country.
According to Morgan Park coach Nick Irvin, the latest Mustang, Lamous Brown, is the third best. Brown began his high school career at Harlan and then transferred to Bishop Noll in Indiana, but had to sit out the entire year because of controversy over the transfer.
“[Brown] is good,” Irvin said. “He’s about 6-11 right now. He blocks shots and runs the floor. He just needs somebody to really teach him the game and work with him as a person.”
Brown is enrolled at Morgan Park but has not been cleared to play yet. Irvin is hopeful that will happen since he sat out all of last season.
