Seton coach Brandon Thomas talks strategy to his players during one of the final timeouts of the game. | Patrick Gleason~For Sun-Times Media
Seton coach Brandon Thomas has resigned.
The highly successful coach was suspended by the IHSA for two postseasons, 2013-14 and 2014-15, because of his conduct at halftime and during the post game awards ceremony of this season’s Class 2A state championship game.
The Sting lost the title game to Harrisburg. Thomas argued with officials at halftime and refused to accept the second place trophy after the game.
“I’m grateful and appreciative to have had the opportunity to work with an unbelievable group of players, parents and coaches,” Thomas said. “We’ve all built relationships that will last a lifetime.”
Thomas was 71-25 in three seasons at Seton. He was previously an assistant coach at Seton and Hales.
