Glenbard North junior running back Justin Jackson is nearing double-digit offers, and added two more, from Syracuse and Minnesota.

“I really enjoyed talking to [assistant] coach Jeff Phelps and I’m excited to get to know more about Minnesota,” Jackson said. “I’ve seen them play a little and I like their offense.”

And as for his offer from the Orange, Jackson is ready to learn more about the school.

“I talked to the offensive coordinator George McDonald and several other coaches,” Jackson said. “So I got to know them pretty well, and they are mostly from the Midwest so we have some things in common.”

Dudek hears from BCS school

Junior wide receiver Mike Dudek of Neuqua Valley picked up his first BCS offer from Illinois.

“It’s crazy, I am so happy that my first BCS offer was Illinois because that has always been a dream school of mine,” Dudek said. “I was so happy when the coaches told me they wanted to offer, I can’t even explain.”

There are plenty of things that Dudek appreciates about the in-state Illini.

“I like how comfortable I am with all of the coaches at Illinois and it just feels right when I am there,” Dudek said. “All the facilities are nice and the new receiver coach [Mike Bellamy] is awesome, and we have built a pretty good relationship.”

He added, “And I want to go into accounting and they have one of the top accounting schools in the country.”

Thompson’s latest three

Montini junior defensive lineman Dylan Thompson picked up offers from Purdue, Syracuse and Ole Miss in the span of three days.

“Three offers in three days is outrageous, and all of them are such great schools,” Thompson said. “It has been quite overwhelming.”

Thompson recently took a junior day visit to Purdue.

“I had a chance to meet the new coaching staff and see the facilities, which are top-notch,” Thompson said. “And as for Syracuse, I would definitely consider a visit there. At this time I am leaving all my options open.”

What about Mississippi? They have left quite and impression on Thompson, too.

“Ole Miss, what can I say?” Thompson said. “They just picked up two of the top 2013 recruits [including Crete-Monee’s Laquon Treadwell] and are putting the pieces in place to build a powerhouse.”

More new offers

Hinsdale Central junior tight end Ian Bunting is showing no signs of slowing down, and added three offers in 24 hours recently, from Ohio State, Nebraska and Minnesota.

“It has been crazy,” Bunting said. “But awesome. I am so blessed to be in the position I am in and this is the kind of thing that we all dream about as kids. It really feels good when all the hard work pays off like this.”

Other offers out in the Chicago area include Glenbard West junior offensive lineman Eric Shute, who added Syracuse to his list; Plainfield South linebacker Clifton Garrett, who picked up an offer from LSU; and junior linebacker Nyles Morgan of Crete-Monee, who added an offer from USC.
