Jacob Hogen became the first player in Minooka history to reach the 1,000-point landmark on Monday. Hogen netted 18 points in the Indians 65-50 victory over Plainfield Central in a Class 4A regional quarterfinal at Thornwood.

With a stunning third-quarter output, Jacob Hogen became the first player in Minooka history to reach the 1,000-point landmark.

Hogen torched Plainfield Central for 13 points in the first four minutes of the third quarter and finished with a team-high 18 as Minooka dispatched Plainfield Central 65-50 Monday in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A Thornwood Regional.

The Indians advance to play Lincoln-Way North on Wednesday at Thornwood.

“It was very exciting,” Hogen said. “I wasn’t really keeping track during the game, but coach (Scott Tanaka) called a timeout right after and I got congratulated by all my teammates. So I’ve just got to thank them. Thank (Perry Jones) for running a great point guard, thank Darrin (Myers) for running great at the point and helping me out to get that milestone.”

Jones added six points and six assists while Myers netted 16 for Minooka (17-13).

During Hogen's torrid third-quarter stretch, the senior splashed five consecutive shots and drilled a trio of three-pointers. He also showed a feathery touch on a floater while attacking the rim during.

It was Minooka’s third victory over Plainfield Central (7-20) this season. The Wildcats were paced by Curtis Harrington (18 points) and Logan Velasquez (14 points).
