York's Alyssa Kovatchis is still trying to get in the groove thanks to missing six weeks after injuring her collarbone.

The sophomore was a starter at the beginning of the season but she's coming off the bench while she works up her stamina.

Kovatchis' extra energy was put to good use as she scored all six of her points in the fourth quarter to help lead the Dukes to a 41-35 West Suburban Silver road win over Lyons on Saturday.

"It's only my fifth game back," Kovatchis said. "I was definitely nervous. We just really wanted to focus on defense and shut Ashanti Davis down."

York (13-11, 5-6) did just that holding Davis to eight points. The Lions (13-8, 5-5) led 19-18 at halftime but trailed 31-29 after the third quarter.

The Dukes scored the first five points of the fourth quarter on a bucket and a free throw from AnnaBell Lansdowne (eight points) and a field goal from Kovatchis.

Lyons was able to get within 39-35 with 1:16 remaining when Victoria Swift (10 points) made three free throws after being fouled on a three-point attempt.

York held on for the win despite shooting 4-for-12 from the free throw line in the fourth.

Lyons' shooting woes from the floor were much worse.

"We shot 17 percent and you're not going to win games shooting like that," Swift said. "Some shots were forced and some shots, like some layups, we should have made. We knew we had to keep shooting but I think we were over-adjusting."

Kayla Morrissey and Gaby Galassini added six points apiece for the Lions.
