Recruiting has showed no signs of slowing down for Simeon senior linebacker Reggie Spearman, who named his top five schools this week: Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue and Iowa.

“I am at the point where I’m breaking down the schools,” Spearman said. “Learning more until signing day. All the schools I am talking too I’m very interested in right now.

“I didn’t think I would be one of the only seniors waiting until signing day to decide in the area, but people I trust are telling me to wait it out,’’ Spearman said. “Some things I am looking for when I decide are the recruiting class, I want to win and I want the people coming in with me to be on the same page. I am also looking for a place that feels like home.”

Spearman will take an official visit to Minnesota Friday and plans to decide on signing day.

Dunlap Adding Offers

Crete-Monee senior defensive back Jaylen Dunlap took an official visit to Western Michigan and added an offer while on campus Saturday.

“With my visits I was looking to learn about what each university had to offer toward my major, feeling welcome, how comfortable I felt there, and finding out where I stood with the coaches,” Dunlap said.

Dunlap plans an official visit to Illinois Friday and already holds offers from UAB, Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois.

Finnin Getting Closer

College of DuPage junior college offensive lineman Matt Finnin added a new offer from Florida State and has interest from Miami and Ole Miss.

“All the last minute recruiting attention is certainly a good problem to have,” Finnin said. “It’s definitely exceeded my wildest dreams.”

Finnin visited Oklahoma officially last Saturday.

“The visit to Oklahoma was amazing,” Finnin said. “The facilities just blew me away, I have honestly never seen anything like it.”

As the lineman approaches signing day, there are several things that are going to be important in his decision.

“My relationship with coaches is the number two item of importance in my decision, right behind playing time,” Finnin said.

Finnin has remaining visits to Nebraska and Marshall.

Other Notes

Crete-Monee junior linebacker Nyles Morgan added offers from Arizona State and Nebraska this week.

Another notable junior, Notre Dame’s Chris James, added an offer from Indiana to add to his offers from Illinois and Toledo.
