By Clyde Travis

Vocational forced 27 turnovers on defense and got 28 points from Mike Taylor to capture a 76-37 win over visiting Hope.

Mike Taylor scored 28 points and the Vocational defense forced 27 Hope turnovers to earn a 76-37 victory for the host Cavaliers.

"We will have to hang our hat on the defensive side of the ball this year," Vocational Chris Pickett said. "This is a very bright group of kids that work extremely hard and absorb everything."

Shelton Brown added 14 points for the Cavaliers (4-0), who also maintained a 36-21 rebounding edge.

"Coach was not happy with the way we started out,'' Taylor said. "We picked it up on the defensive end and forced some turnovers that led to us getting some breakaways.

"We have held every team we have played so far under 45 points. It may not stay like that but we are going to keep putting out that type of pressure,'' Taylor said.

Charles States and Chavez Wheeler scored eight points a piece for Hope (0-5).

"It will be a tough year if they don't learn to play fundamental basketball as they have been taught, and trust each other,'' Hope coach Brandon Parker said." This is not a bad team we are young but we will turn it around."
